Mitra Keluarga Karyasehat MIKA

Mitra Keluarga was established in 1989 with the opening of its first, 35-bed hospital in East Jakarta, with the vision to become a people-centered and leading edge healthcare provider in the nation.

PT Mitra Keluarga Karyasehat Tbk was formally incorporated in 1995, under the name of PT Calida Ekaprana, before becoming PT Mitra Keluarga Karyasehat in 2014. The success of its first hospital was then followed with the opening of more hospitals, located mainly in the greater Jakarta and Surabaya areas. These areas offer the most attractive middle-class demography and access to qualified medical professionals.

Over the years, Mitra Keluarga has grown to become a premier operator of community hospitals with healthy profitability. Its success is backed by its brand heritage and the Company’s credo that stresses the delivery of “Life, Love and Laughter” to patients.

In March 2015, Mitra Keluarga went public, listing its shares on the Indonesian Stock Exchange (Ticker Code: MIKA).

In October 2017, Mitra Keluarga announced the acquisition of PT Rumah Kasih Indonesia (Kasih Group), a chain of 7 hospitals with roughly 500 hospital beds, serving mostly patients covered by the Government’s Health Insurance Scheme, Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional (JKN). The acquisition presents the Company with the opportunity to further develop its business by expanding market share, and simultaneously support the Government healthcare program, National Health Insurance.

Network expansion continues in 2020 with the acquisition of 1 hospital through its subsidiary, PT Rumah Kasih Indonesia. As per 2020, Mitra Keluarga remains considered as one of the nation’s premier hospital network, which comprises of 16 Mitra Keluarga hospitals and 9 other hospitals under Kasih Group. Mitra Keluarga Join Bloomberg's 2021 Gender-Equality Index

BY Jessica Sukarsa

Jakarta, 17 February, 2021 – Bloomberg today announced that PT Mitra Keluarga (PT Mitra) is the first company domiciled in Indonesia to be included in the 2021 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (“GEI”). This is the first time PT Mitra Karyasehat Tbk has participated and made it to the global list for reporting gender-related data.

The GEI recognizes publicly listed companies that brings transparency to gender-related practices and policies, increasing the breadth of environmental, social, governance (ESG) data available to investors.  This year, the GEI comprised 380 companies across 44 countries and regions, and 11 sectors including automotive, banking, consumer services, engineering and construction, and retail, up from 325 companies in 2020. Firms on the 2021 index have a combined market capitalisation of USD14 trillion, up from USD12 trillion last year.

Peter T. Grauer, Chairman of Bloomberg said, “As we continue to grapple with the pandemic, we’ve seen companies put increased emphasis on the ‘S’ in ESG. The companies included in this year’s Gender-Equality Index are committed to providing an inclusive work environment, supporting work-life balance and flexible work arrangements to retain a talented workforce and create a competitive advantage in this changing business environment.”

Rustiyan Oen, CEO PT Mitra Keluarga Karyasehat Tbk. said, “Diversity makes us stronger and complements each other as we grow together and conquer all the challenges.”

Despite raising the threshold for inclusion in the 2021 index, a record number of companies disclosed their data, and the quality of disclosure continues to improve. This year, GEI companies had a 94% disclosure score on average. While the average disclosure score was high, the average data excellence score was 55%, making it evident there is still work that needs to be done. The data excellence score is broken down into scores across five pillars: female leadership and talent pipeline, equal pay and gender pay parity, inclusive culture, sexual harassment policies, and pro-women brand.

Here are some key findings[1] from companies in the 2021 GEI:

  • Flexible work environments: 87% provide flexible working hours and 85% offer flexible working locations, a benefit that has become more important amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.
  • Closing the gap: On average, GEI members’ boards comprise 29% women and 61% have a Chief Diversity Officer or an executive with primary responsibility of diversity and inclusion. The companies have an average of 39% of women in revenue-producing roles and more than half (52%) require a gender diverse slate of candidates for management positions.
  • Culture of inclusion: On average, index member companies are hiring more women than they are losing, 69% of which have a strategy for recruiting women, and 59% conduct a global gender-based compensation review. Additionally, on average, 85% of employees returning after parental leave remain with their company with 65% of companies offering on-site lactation rooms and 46% providing childcare subsidies or other financial support.
  • Inclusion beyond the workplace: More than half (60%) sponsor financial education programs for women and 64% sponsor programs dedicated to educating women in STEM.

"Disclosure is an important component in the GEI as it is the first step towards accountability. The decisions companies make today can drive progress on equality for years to come. We welcome more companies in this dynamic region to participate, as GEI data gives investors a comprehensive view of how practices that support gender equality can drive increased employee engagement and productivity. This in turn brings higher market value to companies and create positive change in local communities," added Patricia Torres, Global Head of Bloomberg Sustainable Finance Solutions at Bloomberg.

PT Mitra Keluarga Karyasehat Tbk. ("Mitra Keluarga" or "the Company") has announced its financial results for the months ending December 31, 2020.

Mitra Keluarga posted FY 2020 revenue of IDR 3.42 trillion, compared to IDR 3.21 trillion over the same period in 2019; EBITDA was recorded at IDR 1.31 trillion compared to IDR 1.15 trillion in the same period last year. Mitra Keluarga successfully turned around its performance during the second half of 2020, as both revenue and EBITDA for that period booked IDR 1.98 trillion and IDR 839.6 billion, versus 1.62 trillion and IDR 560.3 billion in the second half of 2019, representing YoY growth of 22.1% and 49.9%, respectively.

Further, Mitra Keluarga booked record earnings in 4Q 2020, as Revenue and EBITDA margin reached IDR 1.1 trillion and 43.1%, which was the highest in our history. Revenue-per-inpatient-day and revenue-per-outpatient-visit for FY 2020 rose by 17.5% and 24.5% YoY, respectively, despite total patient volume only marking close to 80% of a normal level. In 2020 we handled a total of more than 153.300 COVID-19 cases within our hospital network. In facing the COVID-19 pandemic and responding to the huge number of cases, we implemented initiatives, including:

  • Improved both cost efficiency and productivity, FY 2020 YoY total operating expense down by 0.1%.
  • Imposed strict anti-infection protocols, which include the use of engineering controls (among others outdoor assessment and triage facilities for patients with respiratory symptoms), upgraded indoor air quality, patient and visitor screening measures, reduced healthcare personnel exposure by providing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) along with extra nutrients & supplements. As a result, the confidence level of the healthcare personnel has significantly risen, with more than 90% of specialists having resumed their normal practice hours in 4Q 2020.
  • Provided teleconsultation services, as an alternate patient entry point; as of December 31, 2020, more than 2,000 teleconsultations have been served, since its launch in April 2020.
