Universitas PGRI Palembang - UPGRI

Information on University Of  PGRI Palembang UPGRI. A university is a tertiary institution consisting of a number of faculties that carry out scientific and  or professional education in a number of specific disciplines. Palembang PGRI University UPGRI is also known as the University of the Indonesian Teachers Association. Palembang UPGRI is one of the favorite tertiary institutions in South Sumatra, which is well known to the wider community. This college has a very close historical relationship with STKIP PGRI Palembang. The Teaching and Education College is the forerunner to the establishment of UPGRI Palembang PGRI University. UPRI's PGRI Palembang University since its inception has continued to improve the quality of education according to the direction of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Ministry of Education and Culture as well as the Ministry of Research and Higher Education Kemenristekdikti based on instructions from the President of the Republic of Indonesia to become the best University. To get to know UPGRI Palembang's PGRI University more closely, is reflected in the Profile of UPRI's Palembang PGRI University.
The idea of the establishment of Palembang PGRI STKIP emerged from the figure of the PGRI in South Sumatra since 1979. Drs. H. Aidil Fitri Syah, M.M. who was then Chairman of the Regional Management (PD) of the Teachers' Association of the Republic of Indonesia (PGRI) Level I (DATI) South Sumatra (SUMSEL) and now the Chairperson of the Foundation for the Development of the Higher Education Teachers Association of the Republic of Indonesia of South Sumatra (YPLP PT PGRI SUMSEL) explained that in 1979 the Management of PGRI SUMSEL once assigned PGRI members Drs. Hasan Ibrahim to formulate the establishment of PGRI Higher Education in Palembang, but could not yet be realized. The management of PGRI SUMSEL then replaced Hasan Ibrahim with Drs. Mahya Hadim, but Mahya Hadim had been ill for a long time, so the second episode of the establishment plan had not been realized until 1983.
Nevertheless the enthusiasm of PGRI leaders to establish tertiary institutions in the city remains vibrant. The purpose of the establishment is to help the government create scholars who have noble character and are ready to build the nation by teaching wherever they are. especially in the 1980s in the First Level Region of South Sumatra experienced a difficult time to meet the needs of teachers after the government policy to dissolve the Education of Religious Teachers and the School of Religious Teachers which was then replaced by the Teacher Education School (SPG).
"The South Sumatra Plan to appoint 15,000 teachers to meet the needs of educators in this area is difficult to materialize in the 1980s. We finally had to accept teachers from Aceh, West Java and Yogyakarta. This is one of the reasons for our enthusiasm to establish PGRI Higher Education in Palembang "said Drs. H. Aidil Fitri Syah, who was at that time the Head of the Regional Level Education and Culture Regional Office and is now a member of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), a representative of the South Sumatra Region.
PD PGRI DATI SUMSEL wholeheartedly realized that the Establishment of PGRI Higher Education in Palembang City which had not been implemented was not due to the inability of PGRI members who had been assigned, but was believed to have not been established because it had not been permitted by Allah SWT. For this reason, PGRI leaders believe that the establishment of PGRI colleges is just waiting for the most appropriate time.
This conviction was proven to be close to reality when the Regional Board of PGRI Dati I of South Sumatra held a Regional Conference in Muara Enim in 1983. The conference forum held on to the management of the North Sumatra PGRI why the intention to establish a university (PGRI) that had been echoed for a long time had also not been carried out.
Question from participants of the PGRI Regional Conference in the PGRI Mess of Muara Enim Regency, or the PGRI building that was built with the assistance of Regent Sai Sohar when the Chairperson of the PGRI PD Muara Enim was held by Ismail Mat Yani.
Although it struck the hearts of the administrators, it became a great lesson for the early history of the establishment of STKIP PGRI Palembang.
To answer questions from the PGRI conference forum, PD PGRI Dati I Sumsel and YPLP PGRI Dati I SUMSEL and YPLP PGRI DAI I SUMSEL as soon as they arrived in Palembang immediately issued a joint letter with the Regional Management of PGRI SUMSEL No. 46 / SK / PD.III-PGRI / XI / 83 and YPLP foundation letter PT PGRI SUMSEL No. 342A / SK / YPLP PGRI dated December 1, 1983. This joint letter stipulates the composition of the Committee for the Establishment of the Teachers' College of Education (STKIP) of the Republic of Indonesia Teachers Association (PGRI) Palembang as follows:

Chairperson:
Drs. Usman Madjid
Vice Chairman :
Drs. A. Rivai, M.Ed.

Dra. Liza Rivai

Ir. Rizal Arjuna
Academic Section:

Organization Section:
Drs. Mahya Hadim
Facilities / Infrastructure Section:
Drs. Moch. Ali Latif

This committee is also supported by experienced administrative staff consisting of

This committee works with a high spirit of sincere and careful. they compiled statutes and codes of conduct for the establishment of STKIP PGRI Palembang and planned majors that are most needed by the community to be opened by STKIP PGRI Palembang such as the Department of Language and Arts, the Department of Natural Sciences and Social Sciences and the Department of Education. The committee held several meetings and it was agreed that of the four majors 4 Study Programs were opened, namely the English Language Study Program, the Historical Study Program, the Mathematics Study Program and the Educational Psychology Study Program and Guidance.
The committee also prepared important correspondence addressed to Kopertis Region II in Palembang and the Minister of Education and Culture and the Director General of Higher Education (Dikti) of the Ministry of Education and Culture in Jakarta.
While Kopertis Region II as supervisor and supervisor of private tertiary institutions in Southern Sumatra at that time was very supportive if STKIP PGRI Palembang was established. This institution then reduced the assessment team to STKIP PGRI Palembang. "We were interviewed by the team on the foundation of the building which is now Campus A of PGRI Palembang UPGRI University. One of them is named Zainal Abidin Gafar, said Drs. H. Moch Ali Latief and Ir. H. Rizal Arjuna who was also confirmed by Syarwani Ahmad. according to Syarwani Ahmad, there are four members.
The results of the team then bear fruit results issued Kopertis Region II Decree No. 035 / M.05.02 / Kop.II / 1984 which contains STKIP PGRI Palembang is allowed to accept students for 4 Departments / Study Programs, namely:

  1. Department of Language and Art, Study Program (PRODI) of English Language Education
  2. Department of Social Sciences Education, Historical Education Study Program (PRODI)
  3. Department of Natural Sciences Education, Study Program (PRODI) Mathematics Education
  4. Department of Education, Study Program (PRODI) Psychology and Guidance Education (PBB).

Kopertis Region II's support for allowing STKIP PGRI to accept new students for the first time has many reasons. First PGRI has implemented a complete management system supported by a reliable secretariat staff at that time in the secretarial field led by Syarwani Ahmad (Deputy Secretary of YPLP PGRI Dati I of South Sumatra), then there was seriousness from PD PGRI in South Sumatra and was fully supported by the YPLP PGRI Foundation Dati I SUMSEL and has a room or local for college students and students.

First lecture at SMP PGRI 1
In the Practical Guidelines for Academic Society of the University of PGRI Palembang compiled by Drs. H. Usman Madjid is illustrated that in the area across Ulu Jalan Jenderal Ahmad Yani, Lorong Gotong Palembang, precisely next to the existing Nurul Iman Mosque, there is a plot of land measuring 50 x 80 square meters.
The history of this land needs to be known because it is the first place of study for students of STKIP PGRI Palembang and historical value is very important as the forerunner to the establishment of the current PGRI Palembang University campus.
The land was formerly proposed by PGRI figures Aidil Fitri Syah, Usman Madjid and Hasan Ibrahim to be built at SMA Negeri 4 to accommodate junior high school graduates in Seberang Ulu Palembang, but the offer was apparently rejected by the government because the location was considered to be less strategic. State High School 4 was then built by the government in the Plaju Sentosa area.
The SMA Negeri 4 Development Committee chaired by Tajun Prabu Anom then suggested that the land should be managed by PD PGRI DAT I SUMSEL. By the Management of PD PGRI DATI I SUMSEL.
According to the initial plan, this land will be built by PGRI teacher / mess building. Laying the first stone on the ground was done by Mayor Dahlan HY in 1978 which was attended by many parties including the Secretary of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Education and Culture of South Sumatra, Sumadi, S.H. the program ran smoothly thanks to the cohesiveness of the committee chaired by Holmin Dungcik and his Secretary Syarwani Ahmad.
Because of the Palembang PGRI I Junior High School, which was formerly called the PGRI Seberang Ulu Middle School since its establishment in 1968 until 1980, did not yet have its own local learning or continued to study using local self-study or continuously learning to use local, SMP Negeri 7 and SD Bhayangkari 1 in Seberang Ulu Palembang, then the land was built by YPLP PGRI Dati I Sumsel for PGRI Middle School, which was previously managed by the Palembang Pioner Foundation. Thanks to the hard work of H. Muhamad Saeri, as the Chairperson of YPLP PGRI DATI I SUMSEL, who at that time also served as the Head of Planning of the Regional Planning Department of the Ministry of Education and Culture of South Sumatra, built 2 learning locales to start learning at PGRI 1 Palembang Junior High School in 1980, then rebuilding 3 local and 1 teacher's room in 1982/1983 and two additional rooms were built in 1984/85. The SMP building was then continued to be built by YPLP PGRI during the leadership of H. Muhammad Saeri.
In line with the progress of the construction of Palembang PGRI 1 Junior High School, the Palembang PGRI STKIP Establishment Committee was formed in 1984/1985 also trying to find a college place to study as part of meeting the requirements for the establishment of the STKIP PGRI Palembang.
Chairman of the Palembang STKIP PGRI Founding Committee Drs. H. Usman Madjid who in 1968-1980 had served as the Principal of the PGRI Seberang Ulu Middle School asked for permission from Ahmad Surkarti, the Principal of the Palembang PGRI 1 Middle School (1980-2002) himself and the Chairperson of PGRI YPLP Dati I SUMSEL H. Muhammad Saeri to use local Palembang PGRI 1 Middle School is a place for college students and STKIP PGRI students. The request was granted with the condition that it be used in the afternoon and evening because in the morning local people were used to study junior high school students.
Fundraising struggle
Management of PD PGRI DATI I SUMSEL and YPLP PGRI DATI I South Sumatra struggled to find funding for infrastructure facilities and the development of STKIP PGRI Palembang in a legitimate and sanctioned organization, for example being allowed to sell new dealerships in Palembang to Civil Servants so that PGRI get a commission.
Some PGRI officials even traded fabrics bought at the Megaria Palembang store and then sold to remote areas as far as Tanjung Karang Lampung. from such businesses PD PGRI DATI I and STKIP PGRI are struggling to obtain funds to develop this STKIP, explained Mohammad Ali Latief.
The office of STKIP PGRI Palembang is located exactly in Dr. H. Tobari, S.E., M.Sc. Head of the General Administration and Finance Bureau of the University of PGRI UPGRI Palembang now. "The Palembang PGRI STKIP office at that time was roofed with zinc, the room was very narrow. If we walked by two people one by one had to go through. Understand all officials: Chairperson, assistant leaders and all managers of Palembang PGRI STKIP at that time having offices in such a small room," recalls two lecturers from STKIP PGRI Palembang Professor (As) Drs. And Yali and Professor (As) Drs. H. M. Edwar Romlie, S.E. who was then serving as the Academic Head and Vice Rector III of the Palembang PGRI University.
Not only that, said one of the founders of STKIP PGRI Palembang Professor (As) Dr. (Cand) H. Eddy Salam, S.H., M.M. who at that time served as Assistant Head I of STKIP PGRI Palembang from 1986-2000. "Our office at that time was very alarming, still on the ground, explained Professor (As) Dr. (Cand) H. Eddy Salam, S.H., M.M., who was then serving as the Vice Chancellor I of UPRIRI PGRI University Palembang.
To complete its office equipment, STKIP PGRI Palembang is also experiencing difficulties because it does not have funds. Professor (As) Dr (Cand) Drs. Usman Madjid, M.M. the proof was that he had to bring three sets of teak chairs and three fans from his house for the needs of the STKIP PGRI Palembang office. This equipment is to provide comfort to anyone who visits the College of STKIP PGRI Palembang's office.
Likewise, to meet the requirements for establishing a library. This High School has not been able to buy books and other reading collections. at the beginning of its formation the library books of STKIP PGRI Palembang were collected from the willingness of PGRI figures to give their books to a collection of up to 600 books.
After several sets of requirements were successfully completed, PD PGRI DATI I SUMSEL and Chairperson of YPLP PGRI DATI I SUMSEL considered it important to issue a joint decree No: 34 / SK / PD III // XIV / 1984 and No: 216 / SK / YPLP-PGRI / III / 1984 dated 18 June 1984 concerning Personnel from STKIP PGRI Palembang. College spirit
STKIP PGRI Palembang in the beginning stood with 4 majors / study programs succeeded in receiving 122 students and first generation students who were all teachers. They started college in early September 1984 at the local PGRI 1 Junior High School in Palembang.
Students and STKIP PGRI students admitted that studying at that time required a hard struggle. the condition of the road to the campus is muddy when it rains and its wood-walled locale. besides the road to campus is often muddy. we had to wait for the afternoon and evening to go to college because in the morning we used the students of SMP PGRI 1 Palembang and when studying at night they were often bitten by mosquitoes. Understandably our campus at that time was still a swamp - reminiscent of Sumarna, an alumni of STKIP PGRI Palembang who at that time also served as Principal of SMA PGRI 2 Palembang.
The heavy struggle of the STKIP PGRI Palembang student was remedied after two years later the school was approved by the state through the Minister of Education and Culture Decree No. RI. 065/1986 dated 5 February 1986 which confirmed that STKIP PGRI Palembang was truly officially recognized by the state as having opened the 1984/1985 Academic Year with the Department of Language and Arts, English Language Study Program (PRODI), Department of Social Studies Education Study Program (PRODI) History, Department of Science Education Mathematics Study Program (PRODI), Department of Educational Science Study Program (PRODI) in Psychology and Guidance Education, which has registered status with a Strata 1 (S1) level.
The school continues to grow from year to year so that it has seven study programs namely English Education, Indonesian Language Education, Mathematics Education, History Education, Psychology Education and Guidance, Physics Education and Accounting Economics Education.
STKIP PGRI Palembang students are becoming more determined to finish their studies in order to get a bachelor's degree. This is evident from the first 122 students studying at STKIP PGRI Palembang on December 9, 1989 there were 11 graduates, namely 1 from the Department of Natural Sciences Education Mathematics Study Program (PRODI) Mathematics (Cornelius Dwi Waluyo), 6 from the Department of Social Sciences Study Program History (Sukenny, Mirza Fansyuri, Firdaus Idrus, Sofian Lekap, Muhammad Ilyas, Ahmad Nizar) and 4 from the Department of Educational Sciences Study Program (PRODI) Psychology and Guidance Education (Wina Kartika, Rojulan, Ninik Wusqo Murni, Amiluddin). This alumni continues to grow from year to year.
STKIP College of PGRI Palembang has been progressing for several years by successfully releasing hundreds of worshipers. The building and its facilities also continue to grow. The scholars have also proven able to work and be used by state and private schools. The community then suggested that the Palembang PGRI STKIP be upgraded to a University. The support for improving the status of STKIP PGRI to Palembang PGRI University has come from various parties since 1994 including:

  1. Sriwijaya University Chancellor Amran Halim with his Letter No. 3936 RT / PT.11.1.1 / U / 1994 dated 7 October 1994 expressed support
  2. The Vice Rector I of Tridinanti University Palembang Drs. A. Siahan No. 1055 / Unanti.A / I1994 states are ready to help

  10. Governor of South Sumatra (SUMSEL) H. Rosihan Arsyad with letter of support No. 420/1307 / VII / 2000 dated March 10, 2000
The high number of supports so that the status of the Palembang PGRI STKIP was upgraded to become the Palembang PGRI University was taken seriously by the management of the Palembang PGRI STKIP by forming a 1995 PGRI University Establishment Committee chaired by Professor (As) Drs. H. Usman Madjid and Secretary Professor (As) Drs. H. Syarwani Ahmad. However, the committee faced many obstacles including the difficulty of meeting the requirements for providing lecturers. the stipulation at that time was that every Study Program (PRODI) had to have 2 Masters educated Masters and 4 S1 Lecturers, even though STKIP PGRI did not have them, whereas to use Sriwijaya University Lecturers, this school was still heavily paying the work contract funds with Sriwijaya University (UNSRI) and provided monthly honorarium for lecturers from Sriwijaya University (UNSRI). The target of achieving the establishment of the University in 1995 did not go smoothly so that the committee disbanded itself.
Efforts to establish the University of PGRI Palembang UPGRI only reappeared in 2000. After going through several meetings, PD PGRI South Sumatra and YPLP PT PGRI SUMSEL immediately formed the PGRI Palembang Establishment Committee consisting of:

The PGRI figures in the committee worked in high spirits. The persistence and motivation of the committee led by Syarwani Ahmad was evidenced in the concept of thought and concrete steps. In several meetings, the committee established excellent faculties and study programs opened at the University such as the Geogerafi, Sports, Drama, Dance and Music (Sendratasik) Study Program and the Faculty of Fisheries, as well as the Teaching and Education Faculty (FKIP), Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and Faculty of Engineering. This department is considered a leading Study Program (PRODI) because it is rarely owned by other universities.
The committee then sent a letter requesting permission to change STKIP PGRI into PGRI University to the Ministry of National Education (Depdiknas) through the Director General of Higher Education (DIKTI) in Jakarta, while the Kopertis Region II Coordinator specifically also sent a recommendation letter supporting the change of STKIP PGRI Palembang to PGRI Palembang University to Minister of National Education with letter No. 1345 / 002.2 / KL / 2000 May 1, 2000.
YPLP Chairperson of PT PGRI SUMSEL Professor (As) Drs. H. Aidil Fitri Syah, M.M. and Professor (As) Drs. H. Usman Madjid, M.M. who was then serving as the Head of the South Sumatra Depdikbud Regional Office and also a Lecturer at STKIP PGRI Palembang then at the end of May went to Jakarta to meet the Directorate General of Higher Education Ministry of National Education (DIRJEN DIKTI DEPDIKNAS) Professor. Dr. Satryo Soemantri Brojonegoro said the status change permit was awaiting a recommendation from the Academic Director of the Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education. Hopefully in June 2000 can be completed, said the Director General of Higher Education. This recommendation has not yet come out because it is still studying the results of the verification of the Directorate of Higher Education team who deemed it inappropriate to STKIP PGRI Palembang to become PGRI Palembang University.
YPLP Chairperson of PT PGRI Professor (As) Drs. H. Aidil Fitri Syah, M.M. and YPLP Secretary of PT PGRI SUMSEL Professor (As) Drs. H. Usman Madjid, M.M. with the Chairperson of STKIP PGRI Palembang Professor (As) Drs. H. Syarwani Ahmad, who was also the chairman of the founding committee of the University of PGRI Palembang in early June 2000, returned to Jakarta to meet the Academic Director of the Director General of Higher Education, Department of Education, Prof. Supeno. The Academic Director at that time said, God willing, in June 2000 that the decision to change the STKIP PGRI Palembang into Palembang PGRI University could come out.
The statement came true. Director General of Higher Education Professor. Dr. Satryo Soemantri Brojonegoro in Jakarta on behalf of the Minister of National Education issued Decree No.97 / D / 0/2000 dated June 9, 2000, which approved the change of STKIP PGRI Palembang to UPGRI Palembang PGRI University.
While the official status change from STKIP - Palembang PGRI to Palembang PGRI University UPGRI was determined by its first Chancellor Professor (As) Drs. H. Usman Madjid, M.M. with five Faculties namely:

😇 Physics Study Program
     Palembang PGRI University UPGRI

Albert Einstein is the Father of Physics (March 14, 1879 - April 18, 1955) is a German-born theoretical physicist who developed the theory of relativity, one of the two main pillars of modern physics (along with quantum mechanics). His work is also known for its influence on the philosophy of science. The best known Einstein equation is the energy mass equality formula {\ displaystyle E = mc ^ {2}}, which is dubbed "the most famous equation in the world". Einstein received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921 "for his services to theoretical physics, and in particular for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect", which became an important step in the development of quantum theory.
Towards the beginning of his career, Einstein argued that Newtonian mechanics was no longer able to unite the laws of classical mechanics with the laws of electromagnetic fields. This led him to develop the special theory of relativity while working in the Swiss Patent Office in Bern (1902-1909). However, he later realized that the principle of relativity could also be extended to the gravitational field, and he published a paper on general relativity in 1916 with his theory of gravity. Einstein continued to research the problem of statistical mechanics and quantum theory, which led to his explanation of particle theory and molecular motion. Einstein also examined the thermal content of light which laid the foundation for the theory of photons of light. In 1917 he applied the general theory of relativity to model the structure of the universe.
After spending a year in Prague, Einstein lived in Switzerland between 1895 and 1914, gave up his German citizenship in 1896, and graduated from a Swiss federal polytechnic school (later Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule, ETH) in Zurich in 1900. After living without citizenship for more than five years, Einstein obtained Swiss citizenship in 1901, which he continued to hold until the end of his life. In 1905, he was awarded a PhD by the University of Zurich. In the same year, Einstein published four breakthrough papers during the annus mirabilis (miracle year), which led him to enter the academic world at the age of 26. Einstein taught theoretical physics in Zurich from 1912 to 1914, then moved to Berlin and became a member of the Prussian Academy of Sciences.
In 1933, when Einstein visited the United States, Adolf Hitler came to power. Because of his Jewish background, Einstein chose not to return to Germany. He settled in the United States and became an American citizen in 1940. Towards World War II, Einstein sent a letter to President Franklin D. Roosevelt, warning him of the potential for developing "a very powerful new type of bomb" and suggested that the US immediately begin similar research . His advice ultimately led to the Manhattan Project. Einstein supported the Allies, but opposed the idea of using nuclear fission as a weapon. Einstein signed the Russell-Einstein Manifesto with British philosopher Bertrand Russell, who highlighted and condemned the dangers of nuclear weapons. He served at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey, until his death in 1955.
Einstein published more than 300 scientific papers and more than 150 non-scientific works. His intellectual achievements and originality made the word "Einstein" synonymous with "genius". According to Eugene Wigner, "Einstein's understanding was deeper than Jancsi von Neumann. His mind was sharper and more original than von Neumann's. And that was a very extraordinary thought." Albert Einstein

    (PGSD)

Basic education in Indonesia is basically divided into two, namely those managed by the government, usually called the Public Elementary School and Public Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, while the second is managed by the community, usually called the Private Elementary School and Private Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. SD is under the scope of the Ministry of Education and Culture while MI is under the scope of the Ministry of Religion. besides that there are also elementary schools under the scope of the Ministry of Education and Culture characterized by religion as Islamic Primary Schools, Christian Primary Schools, Catholic Primary Schools, etc.
Elementary school (abbreviated elementary; English: Elementary School or Primary School) is the most basic level of formal education in Indonesia. Elementary school is taken within 6 years, starting from grade 1 to grade 6. Currently grade 6 students are required to take the National Examination (Ebtanas) which affects the graduation of students. Elementary school graduates can continue their education to junior high school (SMP) level.
Elementary school students are generally 6-12 years old. In Indonesia, every citizen aged 6-15 years is required to attend primary education, i.e. primary school (or equivalent) 6 years and junior high school (or equivalent) 3 years.
Primary schools are run by the government and the private sector. Since the enactment of regional autonomy in 2001, the management of public primary schools (SDN) in Indonesia which were previously under the Ministry of National Education, is now the responsibility of district / city governments. Whereas the Ministry of National Education only acts as a regulator in the field of national education standards. Structurally, a public elementary school is a technical implementing unit of the district / city education office. Primary school
