 PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk ("BNBR" or "Company" or "Company") was founded in 1942 by the late H. Achmad Bakrie (1914-1997). The Company’s journey begins with the story of a simple commercial business which then develops, and after continuing to grow for more than 75 years, is now engaged in the business of investment and / or divestment; carved out various achievements and led the Company to become one of the leading corporations in Indonesia.

The Company listed on the Jakarta Stock Exchange (now the Indonesia Stock Exchange) in 1989. BNBR’s investment portfolio approach is in mastering potential businesses, developing long-term business synergies, and designing and implementing value creation strategies.

In this new millennium, BNBR’s business activities have expanded to include general trading, construction services, agribusiness, coal mining, oil & gas, and telecommunications; while continuing to develop manufacturing that had begun in the 1950s such as steel pipes, building materials, and automotive components. The Company also participates in strategic infrastructure development efforts in the energy and transportation sectors. This business diversification has opened up opportunities for the Company to contribute to national development.

In 2014, through its subsidiaries and affiliated companies, the Company has established a business strategy and focus on the manufacturing industry, infrastructure development, and investment portfolio as the main pillars of its business. This strategy is an appropriate step to strengthen businesses and obtain sustainable income, while responding to opportunities that are wide open and in line with national development plans that focus on infrastructure development.

2007-2008

BUMI acquired 44% shares of DEWA at US$218 million.
BUMI acquired Herald Resources, valued at US$547 million.
BNBR acquired ELTY, ENRG, & BUMI, at US$4.4 billion.
BTEL initiated national expansion worth US$72 million
UNSP expanded its and to 107,000 ha valued at US$110 million.
ELTY purchased 75.04% shares of Alberta Utilities at US$2 milion.
 

2009

BUMI acquired 76.8% of PT Fajar Bumi Sakti, valued at US$222 million.
ENRG signed agreement to purchase 10% stake in Masela PSC Block, valued at US$90 million.
BUMI acquired 84% of Pendopo Energi Batubara, valued at US$117 million.
 

2010

ELTY acquired 51% shares of PT Bukit Jonggol Asri at US$111 million and 20% shares of PT Bukit Sentul at US$17 million.
BUMI acquired 24% shares of PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara at US$225 million.
ELTY acquired Lido Lake Resort (99.99% of ownership) at US$39 million.
Founded Bakrie Connectivity data services.
Signed an SPA agreement with Vallar, UK worth US$844 million.
 

2011

Bakrie group established strategic partnership with BORN and decreased debts by US$1 billion.
ENRG acquired Offshore North West Java block at US$212 million.
BNBR completed revitalization process, including the quasi reorganization.
 

2012

BNBR completed transaction of divestment upon some ownership in Bumi plc.
Signed of Assets Purchase of KG- Technology by PT Bakrie Tosanjaya (BTJ).

2013-2014

PT Bakrie Pipe Industries (BPI) awarded with significant pipe supply contract by Pertagas and Pertamina EP.

2015

PT Kalimantan Jawa Gas (“KJG”) started coating its pipes.

The late H. Achmad Bakrie established his business with noble goals to contribute in building the nation. This aligned with his basic philosophy which believes that "every profit generated by Bakrie should bring benefit for many people". This principle is continuously adopted and passed on to the successor generations of H. Achmad Bakrie.

COMPANY HISTORY

PT Bakrie Autoparts (BA) was established in 1975 under the name PT Bakrie Tubemakers which produced malleable pipe; the Company then changed its name to PT Bakrie Tosanjaya (BTJ). In 1983 BTJ expand its capacity by producing automotive component for vehicle and heavy duty equipment. The Company continuously enhance its production expertise and capacity, succeeding in achieving partnership with global player in automotive industry and started its export to several overseas market in 2003. In 2014 BTJ transformed to become an integrated manufacturer of auto component as PT Bakrie Autoparts.

Bakrie Indo Infrastructure (BIIN), a wholly owned subsidiary of Bakrie & Brothers, was established in 2008 as the development of Infrastructure Division. As a holding company with diverse infrastructure assets in Indonesia, BIIN capitalizes on its vast infrastructure experience and regional expertise. Its objective is to invest in lucrative, high-growth toll road, power, oil & gas, port, and telecommunication infrastructure projects. The current Government of Indonesia plans to spend up to USD408 billion in the next four years on infrastructure projects. Tanjung Jati A Power Plant

  • 2x660 MW coal fired power plant in West Java.
  • Kalija Gas PipelinePhase 1: stretches 200 km from offshore North Java to Tambak Lorok Power plant in Semarang, Central Java. Transporting natural gas 116 mmscfd PCML (shipper) to PLN (buyer).
  • Phase 2: stretches 1,200 km from offshore East Kalimantan to Semarang Region, Central Java. Transporting natural gas up to 1,000 mmscfd via open access pipeline.

Cimanggis-Cibitung Toll Road
  • Part of Jakarta Outer Ring Road Network (JORR II). Spans 26.4 km in West Java through four separate administrative regions: City of Depok, City of Bekasi, Regency of Bekasi and Regency of Bogor.

Mining

PT Bumi Resources Tbk (Bumi) went public on Jakarta Stock Exchange and Surabaya Stock Exchange (now the Indonesia Stock Exchange) in 1990. The Company resolved to transform its core business from hotel and tourism to oil, natural gas and mining at EGMS August 13, 1998. Bumi acquired Gallo Oil (Jersey) Ltd. in 2000, Arutmin Indonesia in 2001, and PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) in 2003. In 2000, Bumi changed its name from PT Bumi Modern Tbk to PT Bumi Resources Tbk. KPC and Arutmin together owned a considerable market share of Indonesia coal export. KPC mining is one of the biggest coal export mining in the world. Bumi plans to diversify its business portfolios and income by entering mining areas such as copper, gold, iron ore and coal bed methane. This is reflected in Bumi’s achievement in acquiring an Australian company, Herald Resources Ltd in 2008 which was operating Dairi Project in North Sumatera – a zinc and lead mining. COMPANY HISTORY
Bakrie Metal Industries (BMI) started its steel pipe manufacturing business in 1959 under the name “Talang Tirta”, it originally produces conduit pipe for general use. In 1984 the company expand its business to fabrication service, which specialty is in corrugated steel and bridge. In 1985 BMI established its EPC business with the operation of its heavy industrial steel fabrication facility in Sumunraja, Banten. Today BMI is well known for its high quality steel pipes (oil & gas and general purposes) and nation wide acclaimed EPC and fabrication expertise.
