TM Group announced the completion of the demerger process, resulting in two separate entities, namely Telekom Malaysia Berhad ("TM") and TM International Berhad (now named Axiata Group Berhad / "Axiata"), of which Indocel Holding Sdn. Bhd. indirectly is a subsidiary of Axiata through TM International (L) Limited.
2009 Axiata acquired all XL shareholdings owned by Khazanah Nasional Berhad, so that the ownership of Indocel Holding Sdn. Bhd. to 83.8%.

2010 Conducting a Limited Public Offering I in the context of the Issuance of Pre-emptive Rights Rights (HMETD) of 1,418,000,000 new shares.2011 The majority shareholder of XL Axiata is Axiata Investments (Indonesia) Sdn. Bhd. release part of its shares (worth 20% of the amount issued) in XL Axiata through Private Placement to increase the number of XL Axiata shares owned by the public.
XL Axiata carried out a total transformation in the business strategy to pursue future business in the data service segment and ensure continued long-term growth.
2012 XL Axiata changed its marketing focus by introducing a new motto: XL Step Forward, where XL Axiata's position as an attraction for telecommunications consumers has increased and is better quality in all services.
Etisalat, one of the main shareholders in XL Axiata, invests 9.1% of its shareholdings through a share offering to institutional investors. So that the portion of public share ownership increased from 20.2% to 33.5%.
2013 XL Axiata continues to focus on the data communication business and investment in network infrastructure comprehensively, including holding more than 11,000 new BTS in 2012.
XL Axiata was one of 2 cellular operators who won the selection of additional third generation (3G) cellular frequency channels in the 2.1 GHz Radio Frequency Band.
XL Axiata proved technically ready to adopt 4G LTE (long term evolution) technology.
2014 XL Axiata and Saudi Telecom Company (STC) and Teleglobal Investment B.V (Teleglobal) signed a Conditional Sales and Purchase Agreement (CSPA) to acquire PT AXIS Telekom Indonesia (AXIS).
XL Axiata completed the acquisition of AXIS in March followed by the completion of the merger in April.
 XL Axiata signed an Asset Purchase Agreement ("APA") with PT Solusi Tunas Pratama Tbk. ("STP"), as the winner of the tender for the sale of 3,500 towers held by XL Axiata, with a transaction value of Rp5.6 trillion. XL Axiata and STP also signed the Tower Lease Master Agreement whereby XL Axiata has agreed to lease back the towers that have been sold to STP for a period of 10 years.
XL Axiata launches the 4G-LTE (Long Term Evolution) real mobile trial. XL Axiata high speed internet service up to 100Mbps is supported by Huawei and Ericsson.
2015 XL Axiata replaced the logo with the concept of a peel-off logo whose meaning is peeling, demonstrating XL Axiata's commitment to remove obstacles or open access to new opportunities to develop the potential of the customer to the fullest.
 XL Axiata transformed the business through the implementation of the 3R "Revamp, Rise-up the Value Ladder & Reinvent" strategy in early 2015. Revamp, changed the business model to reach the number of customers (from "volume" to "value") and increase product profitability. Universal Service Obligation  
USO or Universal Service Obligation is an ongoing program run by the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemkominfo) which is carried out by the Telecommunication Financing Provider and Manager (BP3TI).

The main objective of this program is to overcome information technology gaps, support economic activities, strengthen defense and security, and educate the nation through information and communication technology.
