The Company’s origins date back to the early 1950s starting as an international shipping agency founded by Mr. Soedarpo Sastrosatomo. Samudera Ports
Initiated stevedoring business since 1986 in various ports in Indonesia. In 2003, the business unit then developed further to become terminal operator, which services include:

  • Stevedoring services, including unloading and stacking of containers and general cargo.
  • Management of bulk terminal, container terminal and multipurpose terminal.
  • Provision of supporting port equipments.
  • Provision of clean water on ships.

The company currently operates 4 terminals and ports; 3 of them are located in the port of Tanjung Priok, Jakarta and 1 in Palaran, Samarinda, East Kalimantan. The 2 of the 3 terminals located in Tanjung Priok are managed colletively with PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II in providing container and bulk services. The Company also operates a multipurpose terminal, Dermaga Serbaguna Nusantara (DSN), through the Build Operate Transfer (BOT) scheme, which offers ship docking and loading facilities as well as operator for domestic containers and general cargo.


The company has equipped the ports that it managed with cutting-edge equipment such as Container Crane (CC), Harbour Mobile Crane (HMC), Rubber-Tyred Gantry Crane (RTGC) in order to increase the productivity of loading and unloading service. The Company has also formed strategic alliances iwth IT Portlink Malaysia in maintenance and repairs.

Since the beginning of its establishment, Samudera Property’s function is to simplify the property asset management owned by the Company. Currently the scope of work of this line of bisnis is including property management, maintenance, and development, construction supervision, and seize the new opportunities in building management field.
